Music Corner

P.S. 361 has been hard at work exploring instruments, building musical literacy, and writing their own music. Kindergarten and first grade have been developing their ability to maintain a steady beat using body percussion and handheld instruments, second grade has been exploring the percussion family and learning how to read sheet music, third grade has been exploring solfège and composing their own melodies, fourth grade has been working on chordal accompaniment on the piano, and fifth grade has been composing their own music for scenes from their favorite films. It has been such a joy to learn and grow with these musicians, and I encourage each and every one of them to keep exploring and creating music that is meaningful to them.
